Secretary of State Eric Pickles had been due to make a decision today on whether to allow a controversial appeal to build 99 homes on Green Belt land at Saltford.

But the Department for Communities and Local Government today said that the case was still with ministers and there is no clue as to when a decision will be announced.

An inquiry into Crest Nicholson’s development proposals for land at Manor Road took place last summer and the Environment Secretary said he would make the decision based on the Planning Inspectorate’s report.

The developer called for the inquiry after Bath & North East Somerset Council failed to make a decision.

Over 400 objections to the scheme were submitted to B&NES Council and 1,000 people signed a petition.
