A man who robbed a pensioner in Warmley has been jailed for six years and nine months.

Haydn Conlan, of St George, was sentenced by Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday for the robbery, which happened in January.

Conlan, 28, admitted that he saw a 73-year-old man pocket his winnings in a betting shop and followed him before attacking him and taking his money.

The pensioner needed hospital treatment for facial injuries after the attack.

Officers arrested the suspect on the same day as the offence.
