Police, including armed officers, have arrested a 43-year-old man in a vehicle in Waveney Road, Keynsham.
Mark Gooding, of Waveney Road, was charged with six offences – possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, two charges of rape, assault by beating, threats to kill and failure to comply with a firearms licence.
He was arrested in the early hours of 16th January and appeared later that day before Bath magistrates when he was remanded on conditional bail.
He is due to appear before Bristol Crown Court on 11th February.
