Charlton Road set to reopen on Thursday afternoon

The section of road that is having to be resurfaced

Bristol Water has just announced that it expects Charlton Road to be open again to traffic on Thursday, a week after the damage caused by a burst main.

The utility company said: “We will be backfilling and reinstating the road and grass verges up to Wednesday this week.

“We will then be looking to put the final touches back on the road with the lines and cat’s eyes and hope to removed the traffic management and reopen the road at some point Thursday afternoon.”

The closure of Charlton Road, which links Keynsham and the A37, coincides with resurfacing works to the A368 at Chelwood, this week’s planned national rail strike and an increase in traffic for the Glastonbury Festival which gets under way on Wednesday.
