Heroin worth £18k seized by police in swoop in Speedwell

police logoPolice say they have seized a large amount of heroin from an address in Speedwell.

It  followed a fight just after midnight on Saturday (24th November) in Easton.

An Avon & Somerset police spokesman said: “When we arrived on the scene a man attempted to run from us after being told he was going to be searched. Following a short foot chase we stopped and found drugs on him and he was arrested. A subsequent search of property in Speedwell led to a seizure of £18,000 worth of heroin and a number of firearms ammunition.”

A 32-year-old man from St Pauls was charged with possession with intent to supply heroin and possession of Section 1 firearm ammunition when prohibited from obtaining a licence for life. He appeared  before magistrates in Bristol this week and was recalled to prison as he was out on early release for supplying class A drugs.

He is due to appear at Bristol Crown Court on 17th December.

PC Andrew Smetham, from Trinity Road Police Station, said: “As well as getting this man back behind bars, it was really satisfying to seize such a significant amount of heroin which was destined for the streets of Bristol. If you have any concerns about potential drug dealing going on in your area then call your local neighbourhood team on 101.”
