Arsonists have again torched the derelict St Augustine’s Church in Whitchurch.
Fire crews were called out to tackle the blaze at the former church in Whitchurch Lane at just after 3.30pm today.
A spokesman for Avon Fire & Rescue Service said rubbish had been set alight inside the building, which was built 40 years ago but was forced to close because of structural problems.
The congregation are in the midst of a project to build a new church worship and community centre and currently meet in nearby Bridge Farm School East Dundry Lane.
There was a similar incident in August 2011 when rubbish inside the derelict CofE church was set on fire.
