Police have seized around 40 plants, believed to be cannabis, after a call reporting suspicious activity at a home in Hanham.
They were called just before 10.30pm last night to a property in the Church Road area. A man was arrested and a team from Operation Viscount – the specialist Avon & Somerset team dedicated to tackling cannabis production – attended and seized the plants and growing equipment.
A 34-year-old man remains in police custody today.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Rachael Hodges said: “We’re always really grateful for calls from the public reporting suspicious behaviour.”
And neighbourhood police arrested a man in Kingswood yesterday following community concerns about cannabis supply in the area.
PC Nick Smart called at an address in Hanham Road at about 5pm while making inquiries in the area.
A man ran from the property and PC Smart detained him. The officer found seven rooms being used to grow suspected cannabis, ranging from seedlings to 5ft tall plants.
A team from Operation Viscount attended and seized the plants and growing equipment.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis and remains in police custody today.
