Just as news was beginning to filter through to local residents that Keynsham’s Civic Centre car park had re-opened, it will close again over the coming weekend. B&NES Council has confirmed that in order to connect up the new drainage system built for the town centre development, the car park will close from Thursday 12th December until Monday 16th December. The weekend unfortunately clashes with the Keynsham Farmers’ Market on Saturday which necessitates the removal of several short term parking bays from the Ashton Way Car Park.
Despite the opening of parts of the enlarged car park last month, businesses in Temple Street had been left puzzled at the lack of any signage to advise motorists. The situation started to improve as news spread by word of mouth and articles in The Week In. One trader confirmed to us today that takings had seen a noticeable rise in trade over the last four weeks.
The nearest alternative parking will be at Ashton Way (although reduced capacity on Saturday) and the free two hour car park is still available in the Labbott North (behind Iceland). Parking in the Bath Hill East car park is free at weekends.
