Saltford planning inquiry gets under way

saltford inquiry 038The public hearing began today into Crest Nicholson’s appeal to build up to 99 houses on Green Belt land at Manor Road in Saltford.

A large group of local residents, led by Saltford Environmental Group, congregated outside the hearing venue – Fry Club and Conference Centre in Keynsham – to demonstrate their continued opposition.

The developer submitted plans last year to build on the site, where horses currently graze, citing B&NES Council’s failure to meet its housing targets and stalled Core Strategy as ‘exceptional’ circumstances.

Crest Nicholson appealed after the council failed to make a decision by the set deadline. The council’s development control committee subsequently rejected the plans.
