The public hearing began today into Crest Nicholson’s appeal to build up to 99 houses on Green Belt land at Manor Road in Saltford.
A large group of local residents, led by Saltford Environmental Group, congregated outside the hearing venue – Fry Club and Conference Centre in Keynsham – to demonstrate their continued opposition.
The developer submitted plans last year to build on the site, where horses currently graze, citing B&NES Council’s failure to meet its housing targets and stalled Core Strategy as ‘exceptional’ circumstances.
Crest Nicholson appealed after the council failed to make a decision by the set deadline. The council’s development control committee subsequently rejected the plans.
