Police are trying to trace the owner of a kayak found untethered and floating along the River Avon in Saltford earlier today.
They were called at 12.30pm by a member of the public after the empty blue and white kayak was seen floating on its side.
“At this stage, there’s nothing to suggest anyone was in the kayak or that anyone is currently missing, but we want to locate the owner to confirm this, ” said an Avon & Somerset police spokesman.
“We’ve been working with Avon Fire and Rescue Service and the National Police Air Service to carry out a search of the area and we’ve made enquiries with local boating clubs.”
