Brockwell Park has just undergone another transformation with the opening of a new children’s play area. This complements the BMX track which was installed last October. The latest £70,000 addition has been thanks to a group of local volunteers who came together to improve the existing tired and limited park facilities. Friends of Brockwell Park was formed in June 2010 and has spent 3 years working tirelessly with the local community to bring the two projects forward. having obtained grants of £63,500 from The National Lottery, SITA Trust, CEMEX Community Fund, Quartet Community Fund and Cooperative Fund, the remaining funds were raised through community events such as a Zumba Party and car wash and local donations. Wick and Abson Parish Council also contributed £3000 towards the project costs.
