A new café bar is planning to open in the old Lloyds Bank building in Keynsham High Street.
The independent chain Grounded, which already has cafes on Church Road in Redfield, at Sandy Park Road in Brislington, on Bedminster Parade, Gloucester Road, Horfield and in Corsham, hopes to be open in Keynsham by Christmas.
The founder of the chain is Keynsham-born Tobie Holbrook, 43, who lives in Warmley, and also owns Holbrook Moran estate agents. The first Grounded opened in Redfield in 2007.
A spokeswoman confirmed that a planning application had been lodged.
She said: “Tobie was born in Keynsham. His strong personal connection to the place means that Keynsham has been of the Grounded wish list for some time.
“We are really looking forward to becoming part of the vibrant community, as the café will be well-placed in the middle of the High Street.
“We think that Grounded and everything the café stands for in terms of family values and local community will fit in really well in Keynsham.”
Grounded café bars open all day, serving breakfast, lunch and food in the evening, when local musicians including jazz, folk, blues and classical get a chance to showcase their work.
