‘Mindless vandals’ wreck football pitches at Mangotsfield

Football pitches at Pomphrey Hill at Mangotsfield have been torn up by vandals who drove over them, putting them out of action for hundreds of children.

The trustees of the charity Pomphrey Hill Community Sports Association have set up a GoFundMe page to raise £1,000 to get the pitches repaired after the damage on Friday night.

They say: “We are trying to raise funds to help repair some local football pitches that have been mindlessly wrecked by someone/people who thought it would be fun to drive/wheel spin their car around our sports facility, ripping up the surfaces to make them totally unplayable.

“Hundreds of local children play on these pitches. We are reaching out to the local community to help us raise these funds so we can get these football pitches repaired and our lovely facilities back to the wonderful looking playing fields they were before these mindless vandals ruined it for all.

“Thanks to all of you that have taken the time to read this and thanks in advance to those of you that are able to donate.”

So far there have been more than 30 donations and more than £380 had been raised.

If anyone has any information about the damage, they are asked to call the police on 101, quoting reference 5218009691.
