Last night I was lucky enough to attend the first showing of the Broadway musical Hairspray at the Bristol Hippodrome.
From start to finish, my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was the first time we’d been back in the theatre since the pandemic and both felt very excited.
The singing and dancing were amazing and really took us back in time to 1962.
There were standout performances from Brenda Edwards as Motormouth Maybelle and Katie Brace, who played Tracy Turnblad, who’s energy levels were just as high at the end of the show as at the start.
The standing ovation at the end goes to show that the rest of the audience felt the same.
If you have the chance to see the show this week it comes highly recommended. Hairspray is on at the Hippodrome until Saturday 27th November.
