Free parking at Kings Chase Shopping Centre from May

South Gloucestershire Council is set to drop parking charges at Kings Chase Shopping Centre in Kingswood from May.

The council, which has a longstanding policy to keep its car parks free, bought the shopping centre last year as part of plans to regenerate Kingswood town centre.

Kingswood MP Chris Skidmore recently led a campaign, supported by local residents and businesses, putting pressure on the council to make the 350 parking spaces at Kings Chase free for shoppers too.

The move is anticipated to cost the council around £130,000 a year, according to a report going to the Cabinet next Monday (4th April) where it is expected to be agreed.

Meanwhile there are plans to shortly refurbish the toilets at Kings Chase, and urgent roof repair works to part of the centre are due to start soon.
