Andy Mason
A memorial event will take place in Kingswood tomorrow for Andy Mason, a former vicar at Holy Trinity Church in Kingswood who died last month following a road collision in November.
It will be held at the Kingsmeadow at MadeForever community hub in Fisher Road where Andy was a trustee for many years.
The event has been organised by Kingswood councillor Andrea Reid, who had known him for 10 years and will coincide with his funeral which is taking place at midday at St James Church, Poole. The service will be live-streamed on the church’s Facebook page.
The event at the Kingswood hub will run from noon to 4pm and COVID precautions will be in place.
Cllr Reid says it is an opportunity for anyone who was impacted by Andy and his many acts of kindness in Kingswood to come and say goodbye, thank you, and hear and exchange stories with others who experienced his generosity, compassion, kindness and humour.
“Andy’s style was outreach, to go out and get as widely involved in the community issues as possible, via Street Pastoring with bags of slippers at the taxi tank, Beer and Bible sessions in the pub, Sunday suppers at New Cheltenham Hall and Southey Park, Dreamscheme activities and a trustee at Kingsmeadow Community Flat, helping at Kingswood Foodbank, or simply taking the time to sit on the pavement and share a coffee and a chat with a rough sleeper.”
A book of condolence will be available to sign.
