Woodstock Homes have given South Gloucestershire Council prior notification of their intention to demolish the former Bristol Uniforms building in Wathen Street in Staple Hill with a view to turning the site into housing.
The company’s predecessor, clothing manufacturer Wathen Gardiner & Co, had been based at Wathen Street since the turn of the 20th century.
Bristol Uniforms, a specialist in protective clothing, particularly for firefighters, was bought by US firm MSA Safety in 2021 and the new owner has moved operations to the Beeches Industrial Estate in Yate. The company is now known as MSA Bristol.
The reference for Woodstock Homes’ application is P23/03052/PND.
