Somerdale football facilities to be improved

Plans to improve facilities for Fry Club Juniors FC at Somerdale in Keynsham have been approved by Bath & North East Somerset Council.

The development will provide better access and shelter during bad weather and will support the club, which was founded in 1917, to meet the requirements to fulfil ground grading criteria set by the Football Association.

The scheme for Pitch 1, next to Somerdale Pavilion, includes an accessible spectator entrance with a pay booth, covered seating area to the south-east corner of the pitch as well as two wall mounted canopies to the pavilion and a covered standing area to the east.

There will also be a one-metre wide concrete path around the pitch and two-metre high fencing will be erected, including on the north-west side that just falls within the Green Belt.
