Wessex Water is asking for planning permission for a temporary compound on a Hanham playing field while it carries out sewer improvement works locally.
The utility company has told South Gloucestershire Council that the compound on the field to the south of Wesley Avenue is needed during improvement works to the sewer network within Wiltshire Avenue.
The work aims to prevent combined sewer overflowing in the event of a storm.
As it is not on land adjoining the planned works it does not fall within permitted development rights, so Wessex Water is having to apply for full planning permission for access and use of the western corner of the field for the temporary compound.
The compound will include a site office, toilets, storage, skips and generator.
The company has said it will pay for the planting and maintenance of six trees to provide a biodiversity net gain as part of the project.
A temporary diversion route a public footpath has already been agreed with the council.
The planning reference is P23/01997/F and anyone wishing to comment has until 9th August. The council is due to make a decision in early September.
