Almost 200 copies of a newsletter promoting the work of South Gloucestershire Conservatives have been found dumped in a hedge near the riverbank in Bitton.
A dog walker found the pile of newsletters on Tuesday, picked them up and reported it to the Bristol and South Gloucestershire Conservative Federation. The leaflet highlights the Tory-run council’s achievements – including protecting the environment.
Simon Davies, the chairman of Bristol and South Gloucestershire Conservative Federation, confirmed to The Week In that an investigation is now under way.
He said: “I am disappointed to see our latest community newsletter being discarded in this way. I understand the newsletters were recovered quickly.
“Our local Party has many committed and enthusiastic volunteer campaigners who give up their spare time to make South Gloucestershire a better place to live and work.”
South Gloucestershire Council has a well-publicised “zero tolerance” approach to fly-tipping and regularly prosecutes.
