Ring Road litter ‘has never been this bad’

Litter picking along the Ring Road last year

South Gloucestershire Council leader Toby Savage says that work is due to get under way in the coming weeks to tackle the huge amount of litter and other items strewn along the sides of the A4174 Ring Road.

Cllr Savage was speaking at Hanham Abbots Parish Council meeting last night  at which Cllr Heather Goddard said she had never seen it in such a mess.

Cllr Savage said it is always bad at this time of year and that there will be a rolling programme of traffic management involving lane closures at off-peak hours while teams clear the litter, but it would still cause queuing.

“We could do it more often but that would mean more disruption more often,” he said.
