
Work has been halted after just a few days
Roadworks on Keynsham’s five-month ‘Temple Street Improvement Project’, which got under way last week, have been halted.
Traders understand that a tunnel, or tunnels, have been found. Inspection work was taking place yesterday.
The council’s statement on the project website says that there are “pauses in onsite work, due to in ground findings, whilst design solutions are agreed are expected”, and that a full update on construction project progress will be provided on 6th February to businesses, landlords and residents within the area as well as being available on the project’s website.
Work had been scheduled to start on 9th January but the diggers did not turn up until last week, with the council saying that site preparation works had begun prior to construction with final surveys being carried out.
There is 24-hour parking suspension and temporary lights in place to filter traffic through.
Local businesses stress that they are open during the works that involve installing new paving, planters, cycle parking and seating.
