Ring Road bridge repair work to take place next week

South Gloucestershire Council says that work will start next week to repair a failed joint on Avon Valley Bridge.

Safety concerns around this joint forced the council to close the inside lane of the A4174 just north of the Hicks Gate roundabout last month.

The two-day work repair programme to unbolt and remove the failed joint will take place next Tuesday 31st January and Wednesday 1st February. The lane closure will remain in place while the works are carried out.

The council says the specialist contractor will also check the waterproofing is sufficient under the joint and make any repairs before bolting down a new joint and sealing the area thoroughly.
