Bridge inspections on Railway Path may slow journeys

Cyclists and walkers are being warned to take extra care over the next two weeks while South Gloucestershire Council carries out inspections of five bridges on the Bristol & Bath Railway Path.

The structures between Bitton railway station and the River Avon boundary with Bath and North East Somerset will be looked at in detail.

Contractors will be using vehicles that may be parked on the path. There will be marshals helping people around scaffolding towers and path users may have to slow down or stop for a few minutes if necessary.

The council says: “We carry these inspections out every six years to see if wear or tear has occurred meaning any maintenance can be planned.”
