Traders have suffered during the roadworks
The first phase of the gas main works on the High Street will be complete next week when it will re-open for two-way traffic. From Sunday 2nd March however, a section of Charlton Road will then close for a week as workmen excavate the junction with the High Street.
Work to relay new gas mains on Keynsham High Street began on 20th January whereupon traffic was restricted to one way and parts of the pavement were also fenced off. Many traders have reported a marked tail off in foot fall during the last three weeks with one describing weekly takings as the lowest since they opened.
The second phase of the project will see a similar operation carried out along Temple Street.
