Investigations into major fire at old Grange School in Warmley

Firefighters have been tackling a blaze at the derelict Grange School in Warmley this morning.

The large fire at the campus at Tower Road North was reported at around 12.30am.

Digitech School and Warmley Park School are also on the site and they are closed today.

Crews from Kingswood, Hicks Gate, Temple, Bedminster, Patchway, Avonmouth, Southmead, Nailsea, Weston, Bath, and Thornbury were called out to the fire spanning across four old teaching blocks ranging from one to three floors high. The turntable ladder was used to help firefighters tackle the fire from a height.

Crews also used specialist equipment to ensure an adequate water supply was delivered to the scene.

Four appliances remain on the scene with crews continuing to dampen down. Police are also at the scene.

Later in the day it was confirmed that the cause of the blaze was deliberate.
