Hundreds turn out for vintage motorbike day

douglas 23 may 029Hundreds of people turned out to watch the annual Douglas motorbike rally and cavalcade today.

The world-famous Douglas bikes were built in Kingswood from 1907 to 1957 and there was a fine selection on display at Kingswood Heritage Museum which was also the start line for the run along one of the former bike testing circuits via the Chew Valley.

Waving them off at noon was Bill Douglas, great-grandson of the founders of the firm, along with the chairman of South Gloucestershire Council Howard Gawler and the vice chairman Cllr Erica Williams.
