The Home Secretary Theresa May has been out canvassing in Kingswood with Conservative candidate Chris Skidmore.
Security was tight as the ministerial cavalcade arrived in the car park of the Horseshoe pub on Siston Common yesterday lunchtime, to the bemusement of people enjoying a drink in the sun.
Mrs May was the latest high-profile politician showing her support for Mr Skidmore who is hoping to win back his seat on 7th May.
In recent days the Prime Minister, the Chancellor, the Transport Secretary and Culture Secretary have all been in the constituency.
Also there to greet the Home Secretary yesterday was Jack Lopresti, who is defending his seat in neighbouring Filton & Bradley Stoke constituency, and Conservative candidates standing in the local council elections.
Mr Skidmore said: “It was great for the Home Secretary to come down to speak with residents on the doors and hear their views, which covered issues such as controlling immigration and welfare.
“While I’m out on the doors every day now, it makes a change to bring down a member of the Cabinet to listen to Kingswood residents directly.”
