Grounded’s plans to open in Keynsham are approved

The proposed Keynsham café bar

Grounded’s plans for the old bank have today been given the go-ahead

Grounded’s plans for a café bar in Keynsham were finally approved today.

The application to convert the old Lloyds Bank building in Keynsham High Street was deferred by Bath & North East Somerset Council’s development control committee last month, despite being recommended for approval by planning officers.

Issues for concern revolved around the building’s proximity to the sheltered homes in Back Lane – especially the rear garden, which would open late into the evening.

But the committee met again this afternoon and members approved the plans. Concerns have been overcome through conditions, including a noise assessment which will have to be approved by the council before work can start.

There are Grounded cafés in Redfield, Brislington, Bedminster, Horfield and in Corsham and another is due to open in Fishponds in the spring.

The founder of the chain is Keynsham-born Tobie Holbrook.
