Police are today appealing for witnesses to a crash in Stockwood in which a motorcyclist died.
It happened at about 8.30pm last night on Scotland Lane. A 54-year-old motorcyclist was in collision with a Ford Fiesta and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The rider of the Kawasaki ZR750 was travelling up Scotland Lane towards Stockwood Lane and the car was heading down the hill.
The road was closed until about 1am today while collision investigators examined the scene and the vehicles were recovered.
Collision investigator PC Ben Sale said: “I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time or who has any information which could help our investigation to call 101, quoting reference CI/114/14/3083
“I’d also like to thank the members of the public who tried to help the injured man before the ambulance arrived.”
