Cecil Road has been closed one-way at Kingswood High Street tonight because a large sinkhole has appeared.
South Gloucestershire Council says it is investigating and will reopen the road as soon as repairs are made: “We will provide updates and apologise for the disruption caused.”
Signing and traffic management is being put in place to guide drivers. The diversion for westbound traffic is via Moravian Road, continuing east on Regent Street in the bus lane to Blackhorse Road where vehicles can re-join the normal carriageway.
Residents of South Road will have to exit north onto Regent Street’s bus lane.
The opening of the sink hole follows torrential rain today which has been causing flooding problems in other areas locally, including Whitchurch Village and in the Golden Valley.
