Distraction burglary at pensioner’s home in Barrs Court

a police hatPolice say a resident in his 80s was left distraught after a distraction burglary at his home in Barrs Court.

The victim answered a knock on his door in Allington Drive at about 11.30am on Friday. A man told him he needed to check the water pressure as they were fitting a kitchen at a property further up the road.

The victim let the man into his house and shortly afterwards noticed a second man in his hallway. The pair left the house and the victim because suspicious and went upstairs to find his bedroom had been searched.

Police have today released descriptions of two men they want to trace in connection with the crime.

The first was white, in his mid-20s, 5ft 8in, with a long face. He was wearing a navy knee-length coat, with a zip on the front, a blue checked baseball cap and blue denim trousers.

The second man was white, in his late 20s to early 30s, 6ft 2in and of a bigger build than the other. He was wearing a baseball cap and a dark jacket.

Investigating officer Det Con Louise Macpherson said: “We don’t believe anything was taken during this burglary but this has clearly been a distressing ordeal for the victim.

“If you’ve seen men matching these descriptions in the Barrs Court area, or have information which could help our inquiry, please call us.”
