Death of Soundwell man being treated as suspicious

jonPolice today said they have arrested a 43-year-old man on suspicion of manslaughter as part of an ongoing inquiry into the death of a man in Soundwell.

The body of 44-year-old Jon Richardson, left, was found at a property in Soundwell Road on Tuesday 19th July.

A forensic post-mortem examination identified injuries on the victim which warranted further investigation and his death is now being treated as suspicious.

Following recent information provided to the investigation team, officers arrested the 43-year-old man this morning and he remains in custody for questioning.

Det Insp Adam Bunting said: “We’re keeping Jon’s family fully updated on our progress and making sure they have all the support and help they need.

“We now need the public’s help and are appealing to friends and associates of the victim to come forward if they have information which could assist us, no matter how insignificant it may seem.”

Jon’s family have released the following statement: “Jon’s death came as a great shock to our family. Our children miss their father every day, and I just hope we can eventually find out what led to his death.

“If anyone has information that could assist the police, I would ask them to please contact them without delay.”
