A cyclist has died following a collision near Keynsham and police have today launched an appeal for witnesses.
The 25-year-old man, who has not yet been named, was involved in a collision with a Ford Fusion on the B3116 at the junction with Middlepiece Lane in Burnett last Wednesday, 11th June, at about 3.20pm.
The man suffered serious injuries and required anaesthesia from the critical care doctor and paramedic before the seven-minute flight by Great Western Air Ambulance to the new Southmead Major Trauma Centre. He died yesterday.
A police spokesman said: “The circumstances of the collision are being investigated and we’d like to hear from anyone who might have information which can help us.
“Anyone with information should call the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.”
Middlepiece Lane is part of the Avon Cycleway, an 85-mile route which takes in the countryside and villages around Bristol and Bath.
A sign warns cyclists to take care as they approach the junction with the busy B3116.
