Police have today released CCTV footage of three men burgling a house in Emersons Green as the resident slept upstairs.
The recording shows two men search the living room of a property on Guest Avenue, Emersons Green, as a third keeps watch at the front door.
The resident discovered the burglary after he was woken by a noise and found his front door open and light downstairs turned on.
A number of electrical items, including three laptops, a handbag, wallets and a set of car keys were stolen during the burglary which happened at 3am on Friday 25th March. The resident’s car was not taken in the incident.
Two of the men’s faces can be seen in the CCTV footage and police are hoping the public can help identify them.
The men all wore dark coloured clothing and the two who searched the house appear to have worn hooded jumpers underneath coats, grey trousers and black gloves. One of the men was wearing a pair of Nike trainers.
Anyone who recognises any of the men caught on camera, or who has any information which could help the investigation, is asked to call 101 quoting crime reference number 5216063911.
* At last week’s meeting of the Safer Stronger Community Group for Downend, Bromley Heath & Emersons Green police warned people not to leave their car keys lying around after a spate of burglaries locally.
Neighbourhood beat manager PC James Rochford said taking car keys was the current “crime of choice” and that the Downend area was being “hammered” by burglars who steal them and then drive off with the household car – in some cases pinching two vehicles.
He said there had been some arrests but advised people not to leave their keys in the obvious place near the front door and to take them upstairs with them at night.
