There are plans to erect a 5G mast measuring 18 metres high on the pavement next to a block of flats in Soundwell.
H3G UK is asking South Gloucestershire Council whether the prior approval of the authority will be required for the siting and appearance of the proposed mast on Soundwell Road.
The proposed site is on a wide section of pavement outside Church Court, by the corner with Leicester Square. The slimline Phase 8 mast would have four cabinets.
The planning reference is P21/03185/PN1 and the council is due to decide on whether prior approval is needed by 7th July.
