The Bristol Irish Society organised the first St Patrick’s Parade in 2000 and say support grows every year. This year they want to make it even bigger and better and it is hoped it will be a colourful spectacle, with people invited to wear fancy dress or dress in green white and/or gold.
The parade will begin at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School at 1pm. People will walk down Church Road to the City Academy in Russell Town Avenue where there will be entertainment.
Everyone is welcome. Entrance costs £5 for adults and £1.50 for each child under 16 while the under-fives are free.
The Irish folk band Peel Your Own Spuds will be playing from 2pm to 5pm and the Scallon Scott Academy of Irish Dance will also be performing during the afternoon. The Academy runs lessons at venues including St Patrick’s School, Queens Road Methodist Church in Keynsham and Hanham High.
