Inquiries continue into attack on man by youths in Longwell Green

Police inquiries into an attack on a man on a path in Longwell Green on Sunday are continuing.

The victim, understood to be in his 50s, needed hospital treatment for his injuries after being attacked by a group of youths, some armed with rocks, as he cycled along the path, which runs adjacent to the A4714 ring road.

He stumbled on to the ring road to escape his attackers.

The path was cordoned off for several hours on Sunday while forensic investigations took place.

Today an Avon & Somerset police spokesman said: “We are investigating this attack, which took place on a path near Asda in Longwell Green at around 2pm on Sunday, May 5.

“Two teenage boys were arrested on Sunday evening and released the same day, and inquiries are ongoing.

“We had a number of calls from eyewitnesses about this attack, and from people who stopped to intervene.”
