Fire at Fishponds greengrocer’s

fire at fishponds fruit & flowersFirefighters were called to a fire at Fishponds Fruit & Flowers which caused heavy smoke logging to flats above and a neighbouring property.

When they arrived at the premises in Fishponds Road last Thursday night, they could see smoke coming from the shop and had to use cutting equipment to get in due to the metal roller shutters.

Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus made a search and two people in a flat above the shop next door were evacuated and unharmed.

It is thought the fire, which was extinguished with four CO2 extinguishers, a 45mm jet and two high pressure hose reels, started accidentally after an electrical fault.
