Appeal for witnesses to violent robbery near Butchers Arms pub

police logoPolice are appealing for witnesses after a 21-year-old man was robbed of his wallet and headphones in the early hours today near the Butchers Arms pub.

The victim was walking along Stonehill towards Longwell Green, at about 3am, when he was approached by two men who blocked his path before grabbing him, spinning him around and punching him in the face twice. He was then thrown to the ground.

They stole his wallet and a pair of headphones before running off in the direction of Hanham, turning left into Empire Crescent.

The first offender is described as of medium build, 5ft 10in and wearing a dark hooded top. The second man was the same build and height and wearing a dark padded jacket.

Investigating officer Det Con John Shanahan said: “The victim suffered injuries to his head and face during the robbery, which happened near the Butchers Arms.

“I would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident, or who may have seen two men matching these descriptions in the local area.”
