Travellers relocate to different playing fields in Kingswood

The travellers who had been camped on playing fields opposite Kingswood fire station since last Thursday left earlier today – only to move onto the Southey Avenue playing fields a mile away, see above.

South Gloucestershire Council, which owns the site, said approximately 13 caravans and associated vehicles had arrived, and preliminary inquiries have been taking place, with an update to follow tomorrow.

The site in Tenniscourt Road is also owned by South Glos Council but the pitches are used by AEK-BOCO Football Club. They face a major clear-up operation with rubbish strewn across the site.

Meanwhile an unauthorised encampment by travellers on land at Iron Acton moved on earlier this week.
