Police investigating the fire which damaged a children’s play area in Mangotsfield earlier this week have tonight revealed they have spoken with three teenagers.
The fire happened at the Springfield Park play area on Tuesday evening. Fire crews attended and dealt with the blaze. Play equipment was damaged along with the safety surface.
Following local investigations, neighbourhood officers talked with two 14-year-old boys and a girl aged 13 yesterday. They are due to be interviewed voluntarily next week. Police were expecting to speak to a fourth teenager today.
It follows a similar incident on Saturday 20th April, when a fire was put out by local residents before fire crews arrived.
Officers have carried out house-to-house inquiries in the area but continue to appeal for information as their investigation continues.

Neighbourhood police ask parents and carers to speak to their teenage children about the impact of such vandalism. Officers say children should be made aware of their responsibility to their community and to treat facilities with respect.
Police say that for children’s safety parents and carers should know where their children are, who they are with and what they are doing.
