Police appeal for information after attempted robbery of 17-year-old girl in Downend

Police are appealing for information after a man attempted to rob a 17-year-old girl of her rucksack in Downend.

The incident happened at approximately 7.05pm on Monday. The victim had got off a bus on Bromley Heath Road before walking down Bromley Heath Avenue when a man tried to pull her bag from her shoulders.

The girl resisted and was subsequently pulled to the ground.

A motorist driving past as this was taking place beeped their horn, causing the would-be robber to run off down a lane next to Pilgrims Way.

The offender is described as white, about 5ft 8in, of average build and aged in his 20s or early 30s. He was wearing a black hooded top with baggy black jogging bottoms and white trainers.

Anyone who recognises the description of the man or who witnessed the incident is asked to call the police on 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5219047619.
