Motorists are being advised to avoid Kingswood town centre when major overnight roadworks begin on 1st June on the A420 Regent Street.
The resurfacing works, which will be carried out from 8pm to 6am, are scheduled to last until 11th June.
The road will be closed and all traffic diverted around the area whilst the closures are in place. The works will involve planing off of the existing surface of the carriageway and laying a new surface. South Gloucestershire Council warns that these works will create a “significant” amount of noise.
The council says every effort will be made to ensure that access to properties and amenities fronting the site and whose only access is from the closed road is kept available, and that disruption to local residents is kept to a minimum.
It also advises that weather or plant or delivery problems may affect these times and dates.
“Although alternative routes will be signposted whilst the works are in progress, it is possible that delays may occur on the surrounding network.
“You are advised to avoid the area if possible for the duration of the works.”
