Man arrested over burglaries after policeman spots stolen car in Kingswood

Police today said they have arrested a man in St George and recovered a stolen car following burglaries in Warmley and Montpelier in Bristol.

Kingswood Neighbourhood PC Stuart Mathias was patrolling in Kennard Road in Kingswood when he spotted an Audi which had been reported stolen in a burglary in Montpelier on Monday 9th April.

The vehicle was lost to sight, but PC Mathias had seen the driver and subsequently saw a man matching that description.

The suspect was arrested by PC Mathias at 7pm last Saturday (14th April) in St George, on suspicion of a burglary in Warmley on Wednesday 11th April in which jewellery was stolen, as well as the burglary in Montpelier in which the car was stolen. He was later released under investigation pending further inquiries.
