Keynsham & District Mencap Society’s football team, Keynsham Town, have been working hard to get themselves ready for the Somerset FA Disability Counts league in September. The team train every Tuesday evening at Broadlands School under the direction of Coach Rob Cook. As part of their preparation, Keynsham Town took part in a disabled football tournament in Northampton in June. The team travelled to the Six Fields stadium where they won 6 of their matches before being knocked out in the semi-finals.
The team, pictured, have been supplied with a brand new kit, courtesy of Joe Tucker of Tucker and Co South West Ltd who supplied the kit. The lads were all extremely grateful to Joe, who attended a training session with the team last week, and has been invited to their first league game. Joe said ‘it was my pleasure to provide the football kits to allow the team to move forward into the disability league. It was a pleasure to meet them all at their training session and an honour to be invited to their first match’.
Laura Jefferies, manager at Keynsham Mencap said ‘the disability football league is a fantastic opportunity for our team and we are all excited to be a part of it. The guys are training and practising hard and can’t wait for their first match. We are grateful to Joe Tucker for providing the kits; they look great and players are thrilled with them’.
