All decks were closed in January as part of the construction work. At the time the council said it would partly reopen in September.
Cllr Paul Crossley, leader of B&NES Council, said: “This is excellent news for the public and Temple Street traders.
“Bath & North East Somerset Council is making excellent progress on this project. We are on time, on budget and this latest development represents the next stage towards completion in autumn 2014.”
Only the ground floor of the car park is being made available. As previously, the lower level will be for council staff Monday to Friday, such as social workers and highways inspectors. According to B&NES Council, this allocation will take pressure away from car parks, such as Bath Hill East and Ashton Way, meaning people will be more likely to find a space. On Saturdays and Sundays, this level will also be available to the public.
The car park will fully open next autumn when the regeneration is due to be completed. The topping out ceremony for the development is due to take place tomorrow (23rd October).
