Christmas gift swap at Keynsham café

Temple Street Canteen in Keynsham is running a children’s toy and clothes swap for people keen to save money or reduce waste by reusing and recycling.

The event runs from Monday 2nd to Saturday 7th December. To take part you just need to donate some old toys or clothes which your child has grown out of and swap them for some ‘new to you’ gifts ready for Christmas.

The café will also be accepting donated items in advance during November.

Café owner Stefan Edwards says the event will operate an honesty system whereby people take away items of a roughly equivalent value to those they donated.

“If you would like to take more items than you have donated you can just drop some money in to our charity donations pot. At the end of the week any remaining items will be donated to local charity shops and funds raised will be donated to the Well Child charity,” he said.

Stefan opened Temple Street Canteen in October 2017 and quickly became involved in several community activities. Earlier this year the Canteen was named Business of the Year in the Bath & North East Somerset Council Community Awards.
