Bitton swimmer Siobhan-Marie wins gold at the Commonwealth Games

Bitton villagers have up a Pride of Bitton sign today to celebrate Siobhan-Marie’s success

Siobhan-Marie O’Connor from Bitton today won gold at the Commonwealth Games in Australia and defended her 200m Individual Medley title.

The 22-year-old finished nearly two seconds ahead of her nearest rival to take victory in a time of two minutes 9.80 seconds.

The 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games have also seen Siobhan-Marie, who trains at the University of Bath, win bronze in both the Women’s 4 x100m Freestyle Relay and the 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay.

She now has nine Commonwealth medals after winning six in Glasgow in 2014.

At the 2016 Olympic Games she won silver in the 200m Individual Medley.
